Tackling Drug Trafficking

TURKEY is well advanced and experienced in the seizure of narcotics, but it’s an ongoing fight. Turkey’s geographical position means that it’s a gateway between Asia and Europe.
Heroin travels East to West, and Amphetamine substances West to East. The use of Forensic Chemical profiling is now being explored to help as one of the tactics to combat this movement of illicit drugs.
Profiling of seized substances to link dealers, traffickers and producers, both domestically and internationally.
With the help of EU pre-accession funding and the expertise and experiences of EU Member State’s drug analysis specialists, Turkish Police Forensic Laboratories specialists can achieve the ability of determining the chemical profiles of drugs.
There is a vision and desire to then share the obtained profiles and knowledge, and at the completion of the project’s objectives, Turkey will be even stronger in combating illicit drugs. This website will be reporting on our progress towards these aims and objectives.
